My fascination with military aviation started at a young age. Saving up my monthly allowance to buy bag kits from Airfix, at my local newspaper store. Assembling them in a hurry with the always messy Britfix glue. Slapping on the different paints with a simple brush. Afterwards proudly pinning it to my bedroom ceiling with a simple thumbthack. Waiting for the inevitable to happen, a fatal crash to the ground. Beginning the process over again with another kit.

After a few years i wanted to see those airplanes in real life. And i started to go to aviation museums and airshows all over the world. To try and take some pictures. To satisfy my hunger for details. All of which could be used in the more serious modeling projects. Which sadly never saw the day of light. But nevertheless i arranged some interesting shoots to see my favorite aircraft to get some interesting shots. Mostly during restoration, or in places nobody was normally granted access.

The next big thing was the change to digital photography. No more keeping track of the available shots on the film. A big revelation for us photographers. Yep, i survived the slide era. Spotting was the next logical step. Seeing the aircraft in an operational environment on and around airfields. Was a new thrill for me. Many exercises and basevisits were arranged. After Covid my attention turned to museums again. So know i found a good balance between both.
